Welcome to my latest creation: a solid facial oil that elevates skincare with natural, effective ingredients. This could also be called a nourishing facial balm. I’ve carefully formulated this to blend the best of beauty balms and traditional oils with a unique twist. Composed of six thoughtfully selected components, this all-natural product delivers hydration and eco-conscious benefits in an easy-to-use format. Allow me to share what makes it special.

The Advantages of Solid Facial Oils
What benefits does a solid facial oil offer compared to liquid alternatives? This Mango and Grapeseed combination has always been a skincare favourite of mine. Adding cannabis-infused Grapeseed oil offers distinct benefits that set it apart.
This synergy provides deep hydration and nourishment with vitamins A and C. Mango butter boosts collagen production and improves skin elasticity, while Grapeseed oil’s fatty acids support cell repair and regeneration, making it an effective natural anti-aging facial oil.
Here’s a list of its key benefits:
- Deep hydration to lock in moisture.
- Antioxidant protection against environmental stressors.
- Improved skin texture for a softer, smoother complexion.
- Reduced appearance of fine lines for a youthful look.
- Non-greasy facial oil finish suitable for all skin types
- It’s travel-friendly and eliminates the risk of spills
- It has a long shelf life, ensuring long-lasting use.
Upon application, its solid form melts into the skin, creating a protective barrier that feels luxurious yet lightweight. It’s versatile enough to serve as a moisturiser, makeup primer, or even a subtle hair tamer. It leaves skin feeling supple, radiant, and well-cared-for throughout the day.
Inside My Solid Facial Oil
This facial oil is effective for hydration because it combines Mango Butter with cannabis-infused Grapeseed oil.
Mango Seed Butter
A cornerstone of this formula, Mango Seed Butter is extracted from mango kernels. Rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, Mango Butter offers excellent skincare properties.
- It melts at skin temperature for easy application and soothes dry skin instantly without feeling greasy.
- Rich in antioxidants, it helps repair skin damage like wrinkles, old scars, and stretch marks.
- Because it is non-greasy, it can be used on acne-prone skin where it helps to clear pock marks.
- It moisturises and conditions over-processed hair and tames the frizzies. It restores healthy flexibility and so reduces hair breakage.
Grapeseed Oil Benefits
This lightweight oil is also non-greasy and sinks into the skin quickly.
- It’s high in Linoleic Acid and vitamin E and reduces inflammation.
- It has a mild asgringent effect which tones and tightens the skin.
- It softens the skin, keeping it supple and less prone to wrinkles.
- It balances moisture, helping to minimise fine lines and wrinkles – perfect for all skin types.
If you want to, you can make this formulation with Grapeseed oil that has no cannabis in it. It still makes an incredible solid serum.
Cetearyl Alcohol
Derived from plant sources, Cetearyl Alcohol acts as an emollient and thickener. It ensures the nourishing facial balm maintains a smooth, solid consistency at room temperature, enhancing both texture and stability. It also gives a superb velvety feel to the skin.
Rice Powder
As a natural absorbent, rice powder creates an ultra-silky, matte finish. It helps manage oil production and offers a gentle brightening effect, contributing to the non-greasy facial oil experience. It does not clump or go powdery when the solid facial oil is applied to the skin.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that boosts the formula’s protective effects, promotes skin cell regeneration, and helps prolong the product’s shelf life by minimising oxidation. It’s an important part of this eco-friendly skincare product.
Essential Oil
Be careful with the oil you choose. For example, Peppermint would be quite strong for your face and you could react to it. While beautiful and effective, 1% of Rose oil would also be far too strong to wear. I suggest a gentle oil like Petitgrain essential oil.
How to Make the Solid Facial Oil
You might be surprised just how easy this is! I have given the formulation in percentages, which are much easier to work with than teaspoons and cups. You weigh everything, which means that 30% Mango Butter would equal 30 grams. 10% of Rice Powder amounts to 10 grams. If you want to double the amount made, simply double the weights. That way, the ratio always stays the same and you will be guaranteed a successful result every time.
Formulation:
- 34% cannabis-infused Grapeseed oil (instructions here)
- 30% Mango Butter
- 24% Cetearyl Alcohol
- 10% Rice Powder (substitutable with corn or arrowroot starch)
- 1% Vitamin E
- 1% Essential oils of your choice
100% Total
Method:
- Prepare a bain-marie. A water bath is created by putting a heat-resistant glass or stainless steel jug in a saucepan of boiling water. It’s a safe way to protect the ingredients from scorching and becoming denatured.
- Add the cannabis-infused Grapeseed oil, Mango Butter, Cetearyl Alcohol and Rice Powder to the bain-marie to melt. The Rice Powder won’t melt, but it will combine with the fats. Keep stirring gently with a silicone spatula.
- When the solids are all melted, take the jug out of the bain-marie onto a heat-proof pad to cool down. Keep stirring gently!
- When it starts to thicken up, add the vitamin E and essential oil. Keep stirring until they are all combined.
- Transfer to a jar or tin and place it in the freezer to cool down quickly. This will avoid it settling out.

Stored in a cool, dry place, this solid facial serum should remain fresh for about a year. If it develops an off scent, like old nuts or crayons, it’s oxidised and gobe rancid, so it’s time to make a new batch.
Tips for Customising Your Balm
Feel free to experiment, but keep the ratios the same.
- Experiment with Oils: Try substituting Grapeseed oil with other oils like Jojoba or Sweet Almond oil. Using Macadamia oil would give you a richer solid serum, which is better for extremely dry skin.
- Change the Starch: Using Arrowroot or Corn Starch instead of Rice Powder gives a slightly different skin feel.
- Change Essential Oils: Don’t use fragrance oils – only essential oils. Avoid using citrus oils if going out in the sun after applying the product. You can also use less than the suggested amount as it won’t affect the stability of the final product.
How to Apply Solid Face Oil Effectively
Applying this is simple and intuitive. Here’s my method:
- Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it melts.
- Gently pat it onto clean, slightly damp skin, focusing on areas needing extra hydration, such as the cheeks or forehead.
- Use sparingly – a little delivers ample nourishment.
Apply it morning and night after cleansing, before any moisturiser. In warm weather, keep it out of the sun and heat to stay solid; in cold weather, warm it in your hands a bit longer for easier use. For added hydration, layer it beneath your regular cream. It absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy residue – just a healthy, radiant finish.
Conclusion
The cannabis-infused Grapeseed and Mango solid facial oil offers a nourishing, natural alternative to traditional skincare. This natural skincare product hydrates, supports anti-ageing efforts, and provides a convenient travel-friendly skincare option. Its non-greasy matte finish suits many different skin types.
By following these steps and tips, you can create a nourishing facial oil that suits your skin’s needs. Enjoy the process of crafting your own skincare solution!
